These schemes often involve impersonating Veritas personnel through various communication platforms, such as websites, texts, emails, mailings, calls, social media, and others. Cybercriminals use tactics like phishing to extract confidential information, including social security numbers and financial data. Below are key examples and tips for recognizing and avoiding such scams.

Common Fraudulent Activities

  • Email or SMS Phishing: Fake emails or texts appear from legitimate sources, urging you to click links, download attachments, or provide personal information.
  • Vishing (Telephone Phishing): Scammers impersonate company representatives over the phone, claiming urgent issues that require sharing personal details.
  • Job Offer/Social Media Scams: Fraudsters pose as Veritas on social media, offering employment through fake emails misusing Veritas branding. The only authorized Veritas social media is LinkedIn.
  • Bank Transfer Scams: Scammers may request urgent bank transfers, promising extraordinary returns with minimal risk under Veritas’ name.

  • Verify Authenticity: Ensure you are accessing Veritas’ official website (veritascapital.com) and communicating with legitimate personnel. Contact [email protected]  for verification.
  • Scrutinize Emails: Be alert for typos, unfamiliar links, attachments, and urgent language. Avoid clicking on suspicious links or providing sensitive information.
  • Protect Login Information: Veritas will never ask for login credentials outside of secure login procedures.
  • Avoid Suspicious Downloads: Validate sources before downloading content and avoid pop-up ads.
  • Be Skeptical of Unsolicited Communications: Exercise caution with unknown senders, especially when personal information is requested.
  • Verify Wire/Payment Instructions: Confirm any changes through official contact details independently.
  • Exercise Caution with Job Offers: Veritas does not conduct hiring via social media or messaging services and never requests payments during the hiring process.
